Service Design (MA)

Ziqing Zhao

Before coming to the RCA, I studied Industrial Design at South China Agricultural University. To broaden my understanding of design and to be exposed to more collisions of ideas, I came to the London. I first known service design because of Disneyland, where every aspect of its entire service is carefully thought and designed from the user, bringing touching experience to the user. I desire to make a design that enhances people's happiness as well.

Service Design (MA)
Ziqing Zhao

I was an intern at OPPO for a while, where I was responsible for building an official online OPPO store in India as a user experience designer. Although it is cool to apply service design theories and methods to the design an internet product, I would prefer to do something more than just online platforms, and I desire to have an opportunity to apply service design to run my small lovely coffee shop in the future.

Launch Project

Wild Hunter is a treasure hunt that combine online platform with urban green spaces. It meets the demand of families with children aged 6-10 who wants to experience an entry-level nature-based education which is low-cost and close-to-home.

Besides, it allows children to develop an emotional connection to nearby parks and species through treasure hunts, helping them love nature more. Unlike the high-time-cost, expensive and cognitively costly activities on the market, our product, a self-service toolkit, simply requires parents to explore with their children and get to know the plants according to simple guidelines.

Medium:

Nature-based Education Product Design

Wild Hunter with a theme of nature's treasure hunt is made up of a series of physical toolkit and an online platform which is embedded in ' Wild Friends ' run by Alibaba Foundation. There is a character - Charlie, the treasure hunting team leader, leading the hunt.

Users are asked to accomplish collection challenges that are based on the park's featured species with tweezers, magnifying glasses, and other tools provided by the toolkit. Functions like navigation, species identification on the online platform make exploration more interesting and scientific.

By connecting the touchpoints of the online platform in the toolkit, users can be diverted to the online platform, which meets Ali's need to make the online platform ‘Wild Friends’ more known.
