Megan Leech creates and narrates dialogues between the body and space.

As a textile designer and weaver, Megan explores the process of weaving throughout her work, challenging her own methodological approach and integrating a philosophy of intuition led design into her practice. Megan’s approach is directed by a dialogue between drawing and weaving, both informing and being formed by each other. Through her work, she asks questions about the importance of interactions within the mundane, providing alternative perspectives on the everyday.

Respond // The Kitchen

The body responds to the spaces it inhabits, adapting the way it moves and engages with the surroundings. Shaped by the observations of the mundane, The Kitchen captures the balance of movement and stillness, exploring a sense of beauty in the everyday. The Kitchen is inspired by the Action Painting movement, the collection captures a dialogue between spontaneity and order. The structured mind and the intuitive mind challenge each other within each process. The project pushes to distort traditional woven pattern, using both handweaving and the jacquard to challenge the boundaries of spontaneity in weaving. A collection of silk and cotton lightweight pieces: the collection is intended for fashion fabrics, to be timeless garments that drape around the figure and enrich the void that exists between space and the body.
