Liner is a Humanswear designer based in London and Shenzhen. Restricted and influenced by Zen beliefs, and have a strong admiration for technology; Lamented the unfathomable universe, and admired the rules and order of the world. She thinks, We all live in such a dynamic and complex universe, and Liner looks for the fulcrum of balance in these seemingly contradictory things. The organic nature is the original fulcrum, and the data is the tool, Aiming to discuss the possibilities and limits of man-machine integration and technology in fashion.

This is about exploring and expressing a process from organic to inorganic.The boundary between the human and mechanical.In this project, Natural, Human, are organic. Data, Mechanical, are inorganic.And the universe contains everything.We live in such a dynamic and complex universe, and I look for the fulcrum of balance in these seemingly contradictory things. And a sentence from Oscar Wilde gave me a lot of inspiration. [The very essence of romance is uncertainty.] This is my concept. All my thinking and activities revolve around “uncertainty”.

We are now in the torrent of data and technology, and we also follow the basic laws of nature and life. I am obsessed with the contradiction and hedging between tradition and technology, a kind of digital romance emerges spontaneously. So in this project, I started with the natural organic elements and the virtual system as the end, aiming to explore the possibility of human interaction in various "uncertain" environments. The aim is to achieve a state of symbiosis between human, nature and technology.And this process, I call it “Neo-romanticism”.

The story is divided into four chapters(processes), and this neo-romanticism is gradually transforming into improvisation driven by algorithms. (You can also think of it as an evolutionary process) Consciousness, thought, and AI are being closely integrated, and the "bionic" process of AI is breaking through human imagination. (Special note: GAN is my main design system.)

water-soluble test — This experiment used water-soluble materials. I made everything disposable, organic, and water-soluble. I recorded the process of its change, and at the end only the mark of my pen and nylon thread remained. The shape it melts is beyond my control, so the final style of the dress is also unpredictable.

WIP — I grasped the "uncertainty" characteristics of nature and AI in Chapter1,It still does. All design elements and experiments still start from natural temperature and AI algorithms. This new romanticism has gradually transformed into an algorithm-driven improvisation. To put it bluntly, I am trying to make use of the possibilities of the AI in this chapter.The "standard", "norm", and "correct" that we used to think can all be broken in computer data algorithms.
