Zhijin Xie

Zhijin Xie is a Jewellery artist, designer and currently based in London. She likes using different materials to express the narratives that take place around her. Jewellery is an important way to express her emotions. She likes change and creating the possibility of freedom in the process of change. Her pieces are not planned and cannot be fixed in a single way. She encourages the wearer to observe and wear her work in various ways to experience the creative process without expectations and enjoy the freedom of wearing it. Zhijin tries to create objects that she interacts with to create a concrete understanding of the world by renegotiating topics and objects. The wearing of these objects is interactive, activating the space, the senses and the body – the works are portals to new spaces: physical, mental and emotional.

Nowadays, society has a severe problem, body dysmorphic disorder. People are too blind to pursue a public aesthetic standard through extreme ways to achieve the public’s standard. This phenomenon permeates every corner of my life and has a very serious impact on me. So I created a virtual world. I want the different dimension world to wake people up to the importance of their health and focus on themselves instead of the popular mainstream aesthetic. The project is inspired by my passion for exploring ancient hieroglyphic: this attraction means that they bring me and my work closer together.
