Meg Dupont

Meg Dupont is an animator based in London

She studied for her undergraduate degree in Graphic Design in Nottingham, doing part of her studies in Rotterdam on an Erasmus Exchange. She went on to work in London as a model maker for production studios such as BlinkInk and Yamination, working on ads and music videos with some amazing clients including Adidas, Disney and Regent Street.

Documentary Animation
Meg Dupont

Meg enjoys taking sensitive topics and thoughtfully infusing them with comedy and kindness to make them more digestible.

Her particular interests lie in the depiction of the small, daily uncomfortable issues, and their emotional toll on us all. Through character animation, Meg focuses on how to address these topics in a careful and comical way. She does this by picking up on the subtle changes in peoples voices and playing with the line between fantasy and reality. The result hopes to encourage feelings of empathy and relatability in all audiences. Studying at the Royal College of Art has given her the chance to develop this further.

Following RCA, Meg aspires to progress her skills further by animating at a studio, and is open to freelancing. In the long term, hoping one day to work on a series ✨

'Live' is a biographical 2D animation following the realisation of a missed opportunity to make a connection with a relative after attending their funeral digitally during the pandemic.

After attending the live-streamed funeral for her great aunt Dilly in June 2020, Meg was left with a different kind of grief. She had discovered the wonderful world of Dilly at this funeral, but seen through the filter of digital technology. Dilly turned out to be an absolute 'hoot'. She was generous and fun. And by being a loving, strong, independent woman she'd become a family icon. Strong even in her hate for salt and vinegar crisps.

Meg felt that the remoteness of the online funeral directly contrasted with Dilly's warm personality, making it an interesting mismatch to dig into. In effect, the film’s concept and design provides a pandemic-specific lens.
