My desire is to use my work and challenge/ demonstrate my definition of values and luxury within my practice. Having been growing up in a family both of my parents are bankers. They have a very rigid definition on what they wear, what fashion is and certainly a big difference on values, and the idea of luxury.

Being a maker, I strongly believe in the balance of the designer, maker and the user.  From that I started to compare a lot in between the food industry and the fashion industry, where I see it quite similar but the consumer’s approach ends up very differently. While I resemble both industries, food and clothing; I worked and studied natural dye in a workshop in Hangzhou, China. I see authentic natural dye as a prefect demonstration of transparency, ethical, environmental friendly and fully of artisanal element. The time consuming processes I find it very inspiring as well as the progress of showing the sign of wear while using natural dye products.

Starting off with natural dye, my range is packed of time consuming techniques, rough, rustic material choices. Heavily crafted accessories such as hand made brass/ silver hardware, raw silk, hand woven textiles…etc. Process all the little details on every items. What they represent are the hidden stories to be discovered from wear, building a sense of belongings which slowly becomes every wearer’s Classic items.

Sometimes I think a glamorous look can be superficial, sarcastically flaws are hidden, as well as the negativity within the fashion industry. Such as fast fashion, over use of plastic, artificial product which is harmful to the environment.

On the other hand, artefacts that are natural shows the beauty of wear, it has the warmth, and honesty within the item. I believe that’s the values that can save the industry, and the beauty which is beyond tactile item itself.

The range starts from various hardware, hats, bags, more to come in a lifelong journey.
