Jiaoyang Ma

Jiaoyang Ma is a Chinese-based Accessories designer who is interested in the field of researching sustainable materials. She believes that bio-fabrication will be an important part of the fashion industry of the future.

Her inspiration always comes from traditional culture and focuses on the emotional connection between accessories and people.

The global pandemic is forcing people to rethink the relationship between humans and nature.

When related to fashion, I began to focus on exploring alternative sustainable biomaterials.

This project aims to explore the possibilities of bioplastic material using food waste as a resource. The goal is to become more circular and relieve the pressure of fashion on the environment.

By experimenting with the design and use of degradable bioplastics in accessories, I explore the relationship between fashion and nature, hoping to provide a new way of living and designing.

Inspiration — During the quarantine, the window became the most direct media to see and perceive the real world for me. I was then interested in the structure of the Chinese wooden window.
Bag design — The final product will be made up of two parts, an outer metal template and a homemade material. Customers can make their bioplastic by following the steps in the Recipe Book and then assemble the two into their unique accessories.
