School of Arts & Humanities
Dean, School of Arts & Humanities – Ken Neil
One year on from the first instantiation of the RCA’s discovery platform, we are here again with RCA2021: and what an incredibly challenging year it has been for all our students and staff in the School and College. Once again, our graduating students are to be commended for the ambition and ingenuity of the work on display here, and our staff commended for the tremendous support they have given across the year.
Particularly impressive are the rich and diverse ways in which our contemporary world is seen for us by our students, shedding new light and testing new ideas in the process. In significant and enduring ways, the world comes into being through Arts and Humanities subjects, and, moreover, including in tumultuous times, our world is diagnosed and treated, urgently and gradually, by their attention and care. They help us make the world for us and help us make our way in that world, navigating the intricacies of place, identity, and history, while seeking common foundations that might underpin art and humanity.
Please enjoy the achievements of our students on RCA2021, register the inventiveness that has driven so many of the enquiries and the outcomes, and celebrate with our students by discovering the new perspectives on common foundations that their work brings to bear.
