Interior Behaviours

Dungeness' lack of infrastructure and job opportunities drive locals away from it, but this lonely atmosphere also attracts people who pursue a certain lifestyle to take a holiday here. Since it is impossible to save the population of Dungeness in the short term, it is better to develop this atmosphere into a special experience to attract more people to stay in this place.

Melancholy. This emotion with lots of sadness and a little joy can cure negativity. Like some sad songs we listen to and sad films we love to watch. I want to produce melancholy in Dungeness from the acceptance and relief of the negative. And I will kill people's happy expectation of traditional seaside atmosphere with the desolate.

CONCEPT — About psychology, mental health, life and death.

History of seaside
History of seaside — Seaside activities originated in the 19th C of the United Kingdom. These activities are completely different from the Hawaiian-style seaside activities we are familiar with.

RAIN AND SPACE
RAIN AND SPACE — Rain as a wall, divides the distance between people according to the weather.

As the first stop, it started to make people feel sad (10%)

The second stop is a short transfer station, where people enter-and then leave, leading to a more melancholy journey.

The third stop is a sonar site left over from World War II. The atmosphere brought about by the war is undoubtedly painful. This abandoned site has now become a paddling pool.

SITE
SITE — There's a lower space in front of the sound mirror, and that's the center of the echos.
PLAN
PLAN — The rain and its sound have a calming effect as white noise. Use the principles of skylights and sound mirrors to immerse people and vent their sadness. The water in the space has both the characteristics of increasing distance and attracting touch.
SECTION
SECTION — This curve describes the decrease in happiness and the increase in melancholy over time (from right to left), and the altitude of the space coincides with the curve of empty space. The most melancholic room happens to be at the lowest point of elevation.
Axonometric drawing
Axonometric drawing — In response to different user groups, hotel rooms have different scales, the same thing is that they can see and hear the rain.
Yard
Yard — Generally speaking, the courtyard is a kind of public space for people to communicate, but this kind of public space does not seem to play a big role when feeling sad. Therefore, if the size of the space can change with the weather and mood, then people's behavior can be controlled. When the rain wall divides the large space into small spaces, these travelers will be divided into different negative spaces.

As the saddest (100%) and important part of the entire resort, this place where people escape from urban does not try to force people to be happy.

At the end of the experience, people still have to return to life and accept reality, so the value of melancholy returns to 50%, back to a pull of beauty and sadness. But after going through this process, it will become easier to accept grief.

Dungeness looks like a barren land with rudimentary infrastructure, but the beauty here is unique. This building uses the principles of old cameras and blue print technology to let people discover the beauty here.
