Faust Luo

FAUST LUO (b.1995) attained his BFA in painting at Ontario College of Art and Design in 2017. In his time in school, FL has traveled extensively and lived in Boston, Florence for exchange programs and has continued on doing so as a means to explores and expands his practice. 

FL currently lives in London, UK. 

FL’s practice deals with his relationships, people he desires and his fetishes. The artist constantly draws upon his experience of longing, where one’s resolve or wishes are inconsequential and often overlooked. The artist’s practice employs abstraction, text and conceptual gestures. He seeks to examine the askew difference the commonly felt emotions and one’s shame to admit to them.

The artist attempts to stage various encounters in the gallery space, he repeats these morose sentiments until he is exhausted, manifesting a form of obsession not many can bear. The artist does not attempt to be didactical or sentimental, his practice is one that simply pleads for attentiveness or recognition of the lack of it.
