This project started with fabric collages that I started to create when the pandemic happened. I wanted to create a fantasy world where a lot of exciting things might help me get out of the frustrations and depressions in real life.
The images are mainly from nature mixed with my living surroundings. I combined them differently to create a new scene within a frame, like a painting. Later on, I explored the collages with different mediums, such as paper and cardboard, then used it to test silhouettes and shapes. In addition to that, projection is the key element in my creative process, as when the image is projected on top of the space and garment, it can suddenly transform the reality into my fantasy world.
In my fantasy world, I tend to use a lot of hyper saturated colors to brighten up the image, to create a dream vibe, also I want people to feel that excitement when they see the image.
My intention for this project is to create an up-cycled collection that re-applys prints and designs on the existing garments. Those existing garments are the representation of my reality life, and those prints and colors are the representation of my fantasy world. When I'm redesigning and decorating the existing garment, I'm also decorating my real life. It's like I'm trying to use my imagination to create a better environment for my mentality, a more positive environment.
On top of that, I've also created four different window displays to demonstrate the collection. Each window has its own theme. I like to use strong visual presentations to attract the attention from people, to let them fall in to the dream fantasy that I created.
After all, I'd like to use these works and imagery to inspire people, to resonate them with some love and beauty, and hopefully cheer them up.
