Statement

SuperFans is based on the theory of the Crowd Behavior and the Influence spread, which is derived from some papers on crowd behavior and The Tipping Point. I created this diagram by combining the structure of the experiment with the theory behind the project and conducting analysis. Crowd behavior includes three elements: Crowd, Seed (the transmitter of behavior or behavior that can be transmitted), and Catalyst (something that can help the behavior transmit). The influence is spread by building super fans group, which is based on the theory of influence spread: including Mavens (people who are very familiar with the performers, the content of the performance, and the culture between the performers and fans), Connector (people who create influence among followers), Salesmen (people who attract other audiences to participate through interesting interactions), and Stickiness (interesting actions or interactions that can be liked and imitated by the audience).

SuperFans

"SuperFans" is an interactive design aiming at enhancing the online concert viewing experience.

Why?

According to interviews with online concert audiences, feedback shows that most online concert interactions are missing, which means that the audience is unable to interact with other audiences and performers. They can only look at the screen, and such experience is no different from that of watching a recorded concert. Generally, this will make the audience uninterested in watching this form of performance. Therefore, improving the user's interactive experience will be the key to change the experience of the new industry of online performance.

How?

Through the research on Contagion Theory and Emergent Norm Theory and the design of virtual dance floor, this project aims to reconstruct crowd behavior in virtual environments and reshape interaction in virtual space through crowd communication and interaction to improve the audience's viewing and viewing interaction experience. Through the research of a book named The Tipping Point and testing, this project aims to enhance communication and fun by creating superfans who will lead the audiences on the dance floor to interact.

This project includes the UI design of the virtual dance floor and interactive design realized through motion capture.

Bird Therapy

Bird Therapy

According to the ADAA report, 40 percent experience persistent stress or excessive anxiety in their daily lives; most anxiety comes from work. Thus, reducing work stress can effectively reduce people's anxiety, to reduce stress related mental illness, such as depression. The goal of the design is how do you get people who work in the office to have access to nature. According to the research and Byoung-Suk Kweon`s paper and Erin Largo-Wight`s paper. Proper contact with nature helps to reduce anxiety. Joe Harkness was the sufferer of depression, and he relaxes by watching birds. His depression was alleviated by watching birds; he then Shared the treatment with others through his blog and book; many people get help because of this therapy.

The design of the “Bird Therapy” was inspired by these studies, and it could be installed on the office windows to help people in the office contact with nature by watching birds when they are working, to reduce their job anxiety.
