Charlotte Fraigneau

Charlotte Fraigneau is a French interdisciplinary creative specialised in Photography and Experience Design. Her current work focuses on fashion waste looking at ways to inform and educate both adults and children on the matter.

Charlotte Fraigneau is a visual artist using both analogue and digital photography as a lens through which we can open a conversation about mental health and global warming. She is interested in exploring our mental, physical and emotional responses to overwhelming stimuli as well as the often negative yet sometimes beautiful impact of humans on the planet.

Currently based in Cambridge, UK, she graduated in Photography from Cambridge School of Art and was a Burberry Design Scholar at the Royal College of Art in London.

Mouldy Fashion is both a workshop for a young audience and an installation for adults. This project was design to inform on fashion waste and sustainable fashion. Discarded clothing waste is piling up in landfills, much of which will remain for hundreds of years. Globally we produce 13 million tons of textile waste each year, 95% of which could be reused or recycle.

A conversation took place during a workshop practice with children as part of the research process and it was fascinating to hear their thoughts, knowledge and at times lack of knowledge regarding fashion waste and fabric material. Mouldy Fashion aims to contribute to a better future for our planet informing children from a young age and offering adults solutions to prolongate fashion life in order to reduce textile waste.
