Áron Siegler was born in Budapest, Hungary. Despite of the love and interest of directing live-action films and composing music, it was always obvious for him to choose animation as main genre, as it offers limitless possibilities of storytelling, creating worlds and combining all of the interests Áron has. After graduating in Budapest in 2019, he has now completed his Masters at the Royal College of Art. During his studies in London, he started a new chapter in his artistic career by trying to implement a more colorful and cartoonish style instead of the surreal, dark elements that were the main focus in his previous works.
Áron Siegler
With great influences of artists like David Lynch, Trent Reznor or John Cleese, my vision has always been to create a unique and characteristic style. That doesn’t mean I hold on to certain visual elements, stories or atmospheres, I always try to explore new techniques and methods. I have a general idea about the world I try to express in every work of mine, but I believe in constant change and movement. My opinion is that an artist needs to surprise the viewer and even themselves.
I always try to keep a perfect balance of story, message, animation, visuals, sounds and music within my films. I see all of them as equally important fields that club together to create a unique conceptual piece. Animation provides me the opportunity to escape our dark and uncomfortable reality and to reflect it at the same time. My previous themes were usually transcendental and mystical but during my time at RCA I turned to currently more relevant political and religious topics as well. My graduation film has elements of today’s culture and everyday life, but I also wanted to implement a general question and message. A critique on the basic human beliefs and nature.
This is the first 4 minutes of my graduation film. The 11 minutes long finished version will arrive in September.
STORY
A strange story about an island in the middle of the ocean, where people have discovered an extraordinary egg which gives them infinite magical power, allowing the majority to turn the island into a fantastic place.
Almost everyone is living in luxury and transforming everything as they want, however, some unfortunate people can’t possess this magical force. They are gathering in a therapy session every week, hopelessly trying to overcome the tragedy of their lives and they don’t even presume that the island’s destiny is still in their clumsy hands.
