Born in Russia, Alexei now lives and works in London alongside his dog Toozik where he co-founded Sexy frog biscuit project space and TETRIS art residency - a European exchange programme.

Alexei’s practice ping pongs between image making and sculpture.
His work is primarily composed of original ‘functional’ objects and procured industrial elements that perform as part of a propositional and evolutionary ecosystem — threading together notions of play, power, commercialisation and illicit desire.

FUN WITH FREUD
ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT
ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT is part of ‘FUN WITH FREUD’ — a project developed during lockdown following a remote residency at the Freud Museum. It is a body of work that encompasses some of Freud’s and Winnicott’s ideas behind psychoanalysis, whilst merging them with theories surrounding the field of object-oriented ontology.
Inspired by Freud’s collection of antiquities, the virtual ‘chew toys’ are brought to ‘life’ through CGI animation in an absurd encounter with the artist’s very real dog.
