School of Arts and Humanities RCA2021 Opening Event

Friday 25 June 17:00 (GMT +0)

School of Arts & Humanities
Estimated Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

On the eve of the launch of the second annual online degree show for graduates of the Royal College of Art, the School of Arts and Humanities has extended an invitation to alumni, associate lecturers and friends of the School, to make a public address to the graduating cohort and their guests.

Several special guests with differing connections to programmes across the School, are invited to begin a letter to the audience, delivered verbally or by proxy, across the internet and into the homes and studios of all those attending the event.

These letters, each beginning “Dear Graduate, Dear Guest may refer to works that form the exhibition, conditions in which they were made, situations the world has found itself in while the exhibition was being formed, or many, many other things that these guests would like to tell those they address. Each letter is solely in the hands of the writer.

Join the graduating cohort online to celebrate their achievements and the resilience and courage with which they have continued as they found themselves perpetually online for the largest part of their studies in 2020-21.

As part of the event, there will also be an audio-visual snapshot of the work created and exhibited, as a taster of what’s to be found in the RCA2021 digital degree show.

Special guests: Faisal Abdu’allah, Gabi Davies, Harold Offeh, Jack Tan, Jennifer Higgie, Jeremy Atherton Lin, Juliet Jacques, Keith Harrison, Larry Achiampong, Lindsey Mendick, Peaches and Priya Khanchandani
