Comics and Neurodiversity: The Emancipatory Medium

In this roundtable discussion, practicioners, educators and academics offer their perspectives on the role of comics as a valuable accessibility tool for neurodiverse readers. Comics have too often been decried as an inferior form of literature and communication, yet visual narrative has proven to be a liberating medium for those of us with alternative methods of learning and communicating. We will ask, why is the language of the neurodiverse being marginalised in favour of curriculums that do not welcome them? How can the normalisation of visual narrative and comics in academic spaces facilitate a much-needed space for neurodiverse voices?
