A panel discussion surrounding the theme ‘Fiction vs Reality’ chaired by Katerina Athanasopoulou. A conversation with animation graduates about how their films approach the theme ‘Fiction vs Reality’. We will explore the contrast and balance of what’s real and fantastical through a range of films, from the surreal things we experience being trapped in a room to the oddities of a funeral through Zoom. Katerina Athanasopoulou is an artist-researcher and educator working with animation for screen, gallery space, and online. Her artistic practice includes award-winning commissions by the Onassis Foundation, London College of Fashion, the Gates Foundation and Animate Projects, and her films have have been exhibited internationally, including Clermont-Ferrand short film festival, the British Animation Awards and LIAF. Within her doctoral research, Katerina uses photogrammetry and performance towards the creation of volumetric 3D space, for animated documentaries.
